The estate being on the market has created quite the buzz, as prominent media outlets such as Town & Country, Forbes and Fortune magazine have shared the new and exciting opportunity to own the iconic property.

The 13-bedroom waterfront mansion was completed in 1928 by architectural firm McKim, Mead and White; well-known for their design conception of the Brooklyn Museum and Columbia University’s main campus. The historic estate has since been spectacularly restored and enhanced by award-winning architect Bill Harrison, of Harrison Design, for today’s modern living.

1505157553In the book, Gatsby’s house is described as “a colossal affair by any standard—it was a factual imitation of some Hôtel de Ville in Normandy, with a tower on one side, spanking new under a thin beard of raw ivy, and a marble swimming pool and more than forty acres of lawn and garden.”

While the actual estate is lacking raw ivy and a marble swimming pool, the remarkable property boasts a six-car garage, tennis court, separate guest cottage, boathouse and 371 feet of sandy beach frontage with sweeping views of the Long Island Sound.
